Kay Johnson is the Operations Manager at Houndstooth Costume Collective. They Graduated from the University at Buffalo in 2020 with a dual B.A. in Theater technology and Media Studies with a minor in Architecture.

Growing up, Kay was always interested in being an artist. Eventually they discovered cosplay and immediately got swept away with the creativity it allowed people to have in constructing intricate costumes and designs. Whether it was creating a one-for-one replica or a redesign with a twist. This led to them joining the theater department at UB and discovering the world that offered.

Kay was a part of the team that constructed the Artie Award winning Design of A Midsummer Nights Dream at Shakespeare in Delaware Park. They have also enjoyed working on the construction for The Secret Garden (Second Generation Theater), The Color Purple (Ujima Company, Second Generation and Shea’s 710) and Guards at the Taj (RLTP). Kay also made their BUA debut with their costume design for Mediocre Heterosexual Sex in 2023.
